Saragon Launches as New U.S. Data Center Company Purpose-Built for AI Inference and Edge Colocation
Backed by up to $1 billion from I Squared Capital, Saragon launches with ten data centers across nine major U.S. markets, 53 MW of installed power capacity and significant room for expansion
Steve Orlando appointed as CEO and Kevin Dalton appointed President, bringing together extensive experience across digital infrastructure, connectivity and large-scale data center development
PHOENIX, Ariz. — August 19, 2026 — Saragon, a new U.S. data center company built to serve the growing demand for colocation, high-density computing and AI inference infrastructure, today announced its official launch. Backed by up to $1 billion in committed capital from I Squared Capital ("I Squared"), a leading global infrastructure investor, Saragon begins operations with ten data centers across nine strategically located U.S. markets and plans to scale rapidly through investment in its existing footprint, customer-led expansion and additional acquisitions.
Saragon was established following I Squared's acquisition of ten data center facilities from Cogent Fiber, LLC, a subsidiary of Cogent Communications Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: CCOI). The portfolio spans Chicago, Atlanta, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Kansas City, Baltimore, Houston, Nashville, and Stockton with approximately 53 megawatts of installed power capacity and 259,000 square feet of colocation space. Together, these markets serve a combined population of more than 63 million people, positioning Saragon's infrastructure close to the enterprises, networks and end users driving demand for low-latency computing.
Saragon is positioned for a fundamental shift in the digital infrastructure landscape. As artificial intelligence moves from the training of models toward widespread deployment and everyday use, a growing share of computing demand is expected to move closer to population centers and end users. Saragon's facilities combine high-density-enabled power infrastructure, liquid-cooling capabilities and dense, multi-carrier fiber connectivity, including proximity to local internet exchanges, to support AI inference and other latency-sensitive workloads.
The portfolio also offers a scarce combination of location, power and connectivity in metropolitan markets where new data center supply is increasingly constrained. All ten facilities are purpose-built data centers, owned outright with room for expansion, giving Saragon a strong foundation from which to add capacity as customer requirements grow.
Saragon will be led by Chief Executive Officer Steve Orlando, who joins from Seaborn Networks, where he spent nearly six years as CEO of the operator of Seabras-1, the subsea cable system connecting Brazil and the United States. Alongside him, Kevin Dalton has been appointed President and brings more than 30 years of data center development experience, most recently serving as Chief Data Center Officer at Cumulus Data, a division of Talen Energy.
"Demand for edge capacity is accelerating across everything we do — retail, enterprise, and wholesale colocation alike — as businesses of every kind bring compute closer to their users," said Steve Orlando, Chief Executive Officer of Saragon. "AI inference is the newest driver, but the same fundamentals power content delivery, hybrid cloud, and mission-critical enterprise workloads. With a launch footprint spanning nine major markets across the country and the backing of I Squared Capital, Saragon is built to deliver that capacity where our customers need it most."
Saragon will pursue a multi-faceted growth strategy, expanding capacity through targeted investment, customer-led expansion and additional acquisitions, both within its existing markets and by entering new edge locations across the United States. The company will serve customers across the full spectrum of colocation requirements, including retail colocation for single-cabinet deployments, enterprise colocation for mission-critical corporate infrastructure, and wholesale colocation for customers requiring dedicated, large-scale capacity. Saragon will also support high-density and liquid-cooled deployments and interconnection-rich environments for AI inference, content delivery, and hybrid-cloud workloads.

Senior Vice President, Network Platforms
Saragon is seeking a senior networking leader to own connectivity end to end — from the conduit in the street to the switch port at the rack. This role builds and runs four tightly linked domains: outside plant, inside plant, corporate IT, and back-office systems. As an early leader in the organization, you will set the network architecture standards, carrier relationships, and IT foundations the company scales on.
- Own outside plant strategy for every Saragon site — dark fiber acquisition, diverse path engineering, and carrier entry points from the property line to the meet-me room.
- Negotiate dark fiber, lit services, IRUs, and carrier agreements so every facility launches with a competitive, diverse carrier lineup.
- Lead connectivity due diligence for new sites and acquisitions, and manage OSP construction vendors through permitting, splicing, and acceptance testing.
- Define Saragon's standard inside plant design — meet-me rooms, structured cabling, and demarcation — and operate the facility network fabric with the redundancy and change discipline colocation customers expect.
- Own the cross-connect product operationally: ordering, provisioning, documentation, inventory, and billing accuracy, with clear SLAs.
- Establish interconnection strategy — peering, IX presence, and cloud on-ramps — that strengthens the connectivity story for AI inference, enterprise, and regional cloud customers.
- Build and run corporate IT for a distributed, fast-growing company: identity and access, endpoint management, collaboration tools, helpdesk, and SOC 2-aligned security fundamentals.
- Own the back-office systems portfolio — ERP, HRIS, CRM, billing, DCIM, and monitoring — from platform selection and integration through implementation and governance.
- Build the networking and IT team, partner with development and sales on each site's connectivity story, and report network availability and IT health to the executive team.
- 7+ years in network engineering or telecom infrastructure (10+ preferred), with 5+ years in a leadership role; data center, carrier, or fiber operator experience strongly preferred.
- Hands-on outside plant experience: dark fiber procurement, OSP construction management, route diversity engineering, and carrier negotiations.

IT Support Specialist
Saragon is seeking an IT Support Specialist to deliver end-user technology support, administer the company's Microsoft 365 environment, and manage the third-party MSPs and systems integrators that deliver Saragon's IT services. As the company's primary in-house IT resource, this person holds external providers accountable for service quality and ensures employees at headquarters, data center facilities, and remote locations have secure, dependable access to the tools they need.
- Manage day-to-day MSP and systems integrator relationships as Saragon's primary point of accountability — defining and reporting SLAs and KPIs, directing work queues, and driving corrective action.
- Review statements of work, change orders, and invoices; support contract renewals, provider selection, and carrier and hardware vendor relationships.
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support by ticket, phone, chat, and on-site assistance; manage the service desk queue against established service levels.
- Configure, deploy, and decommission laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals; execute onboarding and offboarding with timely provisioning and revocation of access.
- Administer Microsoft 365 and Entra ID — accounts, groups, licensing, mailboxes — and manage device compliance, application deployment, and patching through Intune.
- Enforce identity and access controls (MFA, conditional access, least privilege) and support Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Salesforce, and new business system rollouts.
- Maintain hardware, license, and SaaS inventories; monitor endpoint protection and security alerts; maintain knowledge base articles, runbooks, and provider escalation paths.
- 3+ years in IT support or service desk operations, including at least 1 year administering Microsoft 365.
- 2+ years managing MSPs, systems integrators, or other IT vendors, including SLA governance and escalation management.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, and Exchange Online; proficiency supporting Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android.
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals — TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, wireless, and basic switch and firewall troubleshooting.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience; Microsoft or CompTIA certifications, data center experience, Salesforce administration, and PowerShell preferred.
- Willingness to travel up to 15%, participate in an after-hours on-call rotation, and lift equipment up to 50 pounds; valid driver's license required.
